What matters here in Penticton–Summerland
“I am running because I care deeply about our communities and I want to deliver results.”
Tracy St Claire · BC Conservative candidate for MLA, Penticton–Summerland
Local roots. Experienced leadership. Proven results.
“I grew up in Penticton, where my husband Dave and I raised our two daughters. Our family has deep roots here going back generations.”
“My family is here. This is home. I would be honoured to represent the people of Penticton, Summerland and Naramata in the Legislature.”
— Tracy St Claire
1. Ready for the next fire season
We all lived through the Bald Range wildfire. Tracy was there as Incident Commander for the local Division of Family Practice, keeping care going for evacuees while Summerland was evacuated. She knows we have to recover, support the people who were affected, and be better prepared next time.
The plan: clear dangerous fuels near our communities, spot fires early, make controlled burns easier and get water bombers in the air.
2. A safe second way out
When Highway 97 closes because of a fire, a slide or a crash, thousands of people end up on the 201 Forest Service Road. Right now it’s narrow, unpaved and dangerous.
Tracy’s commitment: secure funding to upgrade it, so Penticton and Summerland have a safer, more reliable route to the Central Okanagan.
“During the Bald Range wildfire, we saw just how vulnerable Penticton and Summerland are when our transportation routes are threatened. We were losing safe routes in and out of our communities.”
“Highway 97 will close again, whether because of wildfire, landslides or serious collisions, and we need a safe, reliable alternative. As your MLA, I will not stop until I secure funding for this critical project.”

3. Care close to home
Tracy has spent 14 years improving access to care here, recruiting family doctors and nurse practitioners and opening four clinics in our community: Community Walk-In Clinic, Ponderosa Primary Care Centre, Colleen Schneider Medical Centre and South Okanagan Maternity Clinic.
🏥 Colleen Schneider Medical Centre: 21,000 walk-in clinic appointments in one year, far more than any Urgent and Primary Care Centre’s volume. — Tracy St Claire
She wants health dollars focused on front-line patient care and on keeping and recruiting the people who provide it.
The plan: keep health care fully funded, universal and public, so your health card is all you ever need.
4. Help seniors stay home, and get care when they need it
Seniors built our communities and deserve to stay in their homes and get care close to the people they love. Tracy says success means seniors actually getting care when and where they need it.
The plan: restore the old property-tax deferment terms, expand home care and build more long-term care beds faster.
5. No new taxes
Families here are stretched, and they don’t need another tax. Tracy believes government should live within its means, use taxpayers’ money carefully and make sure spending delivers results.
The Conservative Party of BC has committed to no new taxes.
6. Up to $1,000 back in your pocket
Raise BC’s basic personal exemption from $13,216 to $32,000, the most generous in Canada. That means up to $1,000 a year less provincial income tax for working people, and up to $2,000 for a typical couple. It’s your money, for gas, groceries and the bills.
🛡️ 7. Safe streets and a real path to recovery
Public safety means being able to walk downtown, run a business, raise a family or grow older here and feel safe doing it. The Conservative plan puts more police and prosecutors to work, stops the revolving door for repeat offenders, and expands treatment and recovery.
“Policing is important, but we also need to address addiction and mental health, homelessness, the justice system and the community services that can help prevent people from reaching a crisis point.”
— Tracy St Claire
Treatment and recovery
Expand psychiatric services, crisis response and residential treatment, with “compassionate intervention” so people with severe addiction, mental illness or brain injury are taken off the street and into care.
As the party puts it: “Real compassion means a full spectrum of care: detox, voluntary treatment, rehabilitation, and secure, medically supervised care when someone can’t make safe decisions for themselves.”
Stop illegal drug use in hospitals, shelters and publicly funded supportive housing.
Repeat offenders and bail
A dedicated repeat-offender court stream, stronger bail and warrant enforcement, and expanded electronic monitoring.
Hire 50 new Crown prosecutors, work with Ottawa to fund 20 more trial judges, add sheriff and court capacity, and report openly on repeat offending, bail compliance, court delays, treatment access and recovery.
Safe supply
End the NDP’s failed “safe supply” experiment and expand access to naloxone.
Policing
More police in the hardest-hit neighbourhoods, 250 more officers through an expanded JIBC Police Academy, and 500 more RCMP officers and 150 civilian staff over five years to restore policing in rural and regional communities.
🍇 8. Supporting our wine industry
Our wineries, cideries and craft producers are at the heart of our local economy. The Conservative plan removes the PST at the till on Canadian beer, wine and spirits for as long as the US trade war lasts.
